Privacy Policy
The short version. myha does not require an account. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on any server we control. Everything the app saves — your scanned products, your thumbs-up/down choices, your settings — stays on your device. You can delete all of it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
1. Who we are
myha is developed by BigBlueFightingCockerel. You can reach us at bigbluefightingcockerel@gmail.com.
This policy covers the myha mobile app on Google Play and the App Store, and the website at makeyourselfhealthyagainapp.com.
2. What data myha handles
2.1 Data stored on your device
The app stores the following locally on your device only:
- Scan history and saved products (Pantry): the barcode, product name, brand, category, ingredient list, and verdict for each item you've scanned or saved.
- Your reactions: thumbs-up and thumbs-down choices you've made on products.
- App preferences: theme, settings toggles, weekly recap counters, and the internal counters used to time the occasional "leave a review" prompt.
This data lives in the app's private sandbox on your phone. It is not uploaded to any server operated by us, and it is not shared with any third party. It is not readable by other apps on your device.
2.2 Data sent to third parties
- Open Food Facts: when you scan a barcode, the app sends that barcode number to the public Open Food Facts API to look up product information. No personal identifier, account, or device identifier is sent with the request. Open Food Facts has its own privacy policy.
- Google Play in-app review: if you choose to rate myha, the review flow is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your review or any Google account information.
- Apple App Store review (iOS): handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We never see your review or Apple ID.
2.3 Data processed only on-device
- Camera frames for barcode scanning and OCR: when you point the camera at a product, frames are processed in memory on your device to detect a barcode or read the ingredient label. These frames are never saved to storage and are never uploaded.
2.4 Data we do NOT collect
- No accounts, usernames, passwords, or sign-ups.
- No email addresses, phone numbers, or contact information (unless you voluntarily email us for support).
- No location data. The app does not request or use GPS or location permissions.
- No advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics SDKs.
- No health, biometric, or medical data.
- No payment information. myha is free and has no in-app purchases.
3. How long we keep your data (retention)
Because the app stores data locally on your device, myha keeps that data for as long as you keep the app installed. We do not retain copies on any server.
- Scan history and saved products: kept on your device until you remove them individually in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
- App preferences and counters: kept on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
- Support emails you send us voluntarily: retained in our support inbox for up to 24 months so we can follow up on bug reports and feature requests, and then deleted. You can ask us to delete your email thread sooner at any time.
4. How to delete your data
Because everything the app stores is on your device, you are always in full control. You have several options:
4.1 Delete individual items
Open the Pantry, long-press a saved product, and choose Remove. This deletes that product and its associated reactions from your device immediately.
4.2 Clear all app data
To wipe every piece of data myha has stored on your device in one step:
- Android: open Settings → Apps → myha → Storage & cache → Clear storage. This permanently erases your Pantry, scan history, reactions, and preferences.
- iOS: open Settings → General → iPhone Storage → myha → Delete App, or long-press the app icon and choose Remove App → Delete App. This permanently erases all myha data from your device.
4.3 Uninstall
Uninstalling myha removes the app and all of its locally stored data from your device.
4.4 Delete support emails you've sent us
If you've emailed us, you can ask us to delete that email thread at any time by replying to the thread or writing to bigbluefightingcockerel@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my data". We will confirm the deletion within 30 days.
5. Children's privacy
myha is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Because the app does not collect personal data from anyone, no child-specific data is gathered either. If you believe a child has emailed us in a way that reveals personal information, contact us and we will delete the message.
6. Security
Your Pantry data is stored in the app's private sandbox, which is protected by the operating system's standard app isolation. Requests to Open Food Facts are made over HTTPS. Because we do not operate any server that stores your data, there is no central database of myha users that could be breached.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK, or under the CCPA in California), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data a company holds about you.
Because myha stores your data only on your device and does not operate a server-side user database, most of these rights are exercised directly by you using the steps in Section 4. If you have emailed us for support and want us to delete that correspondence or tell you what we have on file, email bigbluefightingcockerel@gmail.com.
8. Third-party services
The app relies on the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Open Food Facts — product database (barcode lookups). Privacy policy
- Google Play Services — in-app review API on Android. Privacy policy
- Apple StoreKit — in-app review on iOS. Privacy policy
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page and, if the changes are significant, we will highlight them in the app's release notes. Continued use of myha after a change means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy or about your data? Email bigbluefightingcockerel@gmail.com. We read everything.
